Vintage Sapphire Diamond Ring 9ct Gold

Beautiful Art Deco style ring, circa 1980s. It has an 9ct yellow gold shank and has been set with an oval cut blue sapphire in the centre with 3 graduating calibre cut sapphires either side. Above and below are small round cut diamonds in a crimped style setting. 

There is fine milgrain detail throughout the design. It curves nicely around the finger and sits low down so it is a practical ring to wear. It is in lovely vintage condition, some signs of wear commensurate with age and use.

In ancient Greece and Rome, Kings and Queens were convinced that blue sapphires protected their owners from envy and harm. During the Middle Ages, the clergy wore blue sapphires to symbolize Heaven, and the rest of society thought the gem attracted heavenly blessings.
