Vintage Garnet Snake Ring 9ct Gold

Vintage unisex 9ct yellow gold snake ring, set with a round cut cabochon garnet. The engraved snake is beautifully detailed, with his tail looping round his head.

The history of garnet dates back to the Bronze Age, more than 5000 years ago. Its name was derived from the Latin word granatium, which means pomegranate, as the red crystals were thought to resemble pomegranate seeds.

Hallmark: Maker's mark 'G&PLd', '9 375' for 9ct gold, date letter 'K' for 1965, assay London

Condition: The garnet has some surface abrasions commensurate with age and use.
