Vintage Iolite Masonic 18ct Gold Cufflinks

Vintage 18ct yellow gold symbolic cufflinks, depicting the square & compass masonic imagery. The cufflinks are bezel set with a faceted oval cut iolite gemstone. 

The iolite is a beautiful deep violet purple shade, perfectly complimenting the yellow gold.

The name iolite comes from ios, the Greek word for violet. Iolite is commonly known as "water sapphire" due to its translucent blue sapphire colour, and displays rich violet purple hues very similar to both sapphire and tanzanite.

Although iolite has been used in jewellery for centuries, it was particularly loved by the Vikings, and was only officially named in 1912.

Iolite: 6mm x 5mm inclusive of setting 

Cufflinks:  17mm x 17mm

Hallmark: Unmarked, tests as 18ct gold

Weight: 5.4g combined 

Condition: Some lights signs of wear commensurate with age and use. One small nibble from the edge of one tanzanite where it meets the setting.
