Sapphire Diamond 9ct White Gold Ring

Beautiful solitaire ring set with an oval cut lab grown blue sapphire. The sapphire is a gorgeous rich shade of royal blue.

The shoulders are pave set with a total of 10 round brilliant cut natural diamonds in a 9ct white gold band.

The first synthetic sapphire was successfully made in 1873 by the flux method. This was followed shortly by the flame fusion method in 1902. They feature prominently in Art Deco jewellery and have the same chemical composition as earth mined sapphires.

In ancient Greece and Rome, Kings and Queens were convinced that blue sapphires protected their owners from envy and harm. During the Middle Ages, the clergy wore blue sapphires to symbolize Heaven, and the rest of society thought the gem attracted heavenly blessings.
