Vintage Phaistos Disc Pendant 14ct Gold Vermeil
Vintage Phaistos Disc Pendant 14ct Gold Vermeil
This vintage symbolic pendant is a 14ct yellow gold vermeil replica of 'The Phaistos Disc', it represents one of the most iconic yet enigmatic artefacts of the Minoan civilization. Discovered in 1908, it consists of a disk of fired clay from the Minoan palace of Phaistos located on the Greek island of Crete, possibly dating to the middle or late Minoan Bronze Age (second millennium B.C.).
The language is arranged in a spiral pattern and is imprinted on both sides, it has never been fully decoded and the symbols are part of no known alphabet, either ancient or modern. There have been many attempts to decipher and interpret the text, it is thought it could possibly be a prayer or an incantation.
