Art Deco Spinel 9ct Gold Ring
Art Deco Spinel 9ct Gold Ring
Beautiful example of a 9ct yellow gold Art Deco oval cut synthetic spinel ring (lab grown). It is a gorgeous blue colour, very similar to an aquamarine.
The 9ct yellow gold double prong setting features delicate openwork shoulders, beautifully displaying the spinel.
The name spinel comes from the Greek word for spark. The name has also been said to come from the Latin word spina for spine or thorn, because spinel is often found as very sharp crystals. Mentions of this gem are found in records dating to the 9th century AD, and the British Royal Imperial crown is also set with spinel.
Flame fusion synthetic spinels have been produced since 1908, becoming commercial available in 1930. They feature prominently in Art Deco jewellery and have the same chemical composition as earth mined spinels.

Height: Sits 5.3mm off the finger
