Antique 1840 French Ruby & Pearl 18ct Gold & Silver Ring

Beautiful antique ring, circa 1840, crafted in Paris, France. At its centre is a lustrous oval blister pearl, surrounded by a halo of 26 rubies.

The pearl has a beautiful silver grey lustre, with a small natural surface imperfection. The rubies are a gorgeous deep pink colour.

The rubies & pearl are mounted in silver closed-back settings, with natural patina present.

The band is 18ct gold, originally featuring trifurcated shoulders that elegantly meets the bezel. One shoulder has lost the trifurcated central bar.

The outer gold band has a partially worn French eagle’s head stamp, applied to 18ct gold in Paris during 1838 - 1847.

There are also worn stamps to the edge of the silver ruby setting.
