Vintage Iolite 9ct Rose Gold Necklace

Vintage necklace set with 8 beautiful oval cut iolite gem stones, bezel set in 9ct rose gold. 

The name iolite comes from ios, the Greek word for violet. Iolite is commonly known as "water sapphire" due to its translucent blue sapphire colour, and displays rich violet purple hues very similar to both sapphire and tanzanite.

Although iolite has been used in jewellery for centuries, it was particularly loved by the Vikings, and was only officially named in 1912.

Hallmark: Makers mark 'YVE', crown gold mark, '375' for 9ct gold, assay London, date letter 'Z' for 1999
