Antique bohemian Victorian drop earrings, set with rose cut pyrope garnets in a yellow gold closed setting.
The garnets are a beautiful deep red colour. Pyrope garnets were discovered in Bohemia in central Europe in 1500, becoming the main source for Victorian garnet jewellery. The name garnet comes from the Latin word granatus, which means pomegranate.

Condition: Very small solder repair to the bale of one cluster. The is also a very small hand etched '1891' to the rear of a cluster, likely date related.
